Sampada's work explores human emotions, state of mind and the complex relationship we have with our own self and life. Each work has different feelings she wants to convey while encouraging viewers to find their own meaningful connection to what they see and feel. Her figures are ambiguous and have no defined gender and represent different parts of an individual to form a narrative that is free to interpretations.
“Love the moment. Flowers grow out of dark moments. Therefore, each moment is vital. It affects the whole. Life is a succession of such moments and to live each, is to succeed,” - Corita Kent, artist and educator.
The figures submerged in darkness represent the moments when we feel overwhelmed by an empty void inside. Just like lotus flowers that grow from murky water, we humans, can also grow from those moments. The flowers emerging from the figures represent inner growth and finding comfort in your own emotions and even despair. If we look deeply enough within, we can surely find the sense of hope and strength to overcome difficult moments in our life.
This work is available in A3 size printed on Somerset Fine Art paper and A4 printed on a special Nepali textured off-white beige paper.
