Artist Minu Achrekar

From her early years growing up in India in a creative family of artists and architects, Minu Achrekar was imparted with a high respect for creativity and innovation in the arts. However, she decided to go into healthcare and has been a psychiatric doctor practicing in UK for more than 25 years. In 2015, she returned to her love for painting and very soon after she had her first solo exhibition where she raised thousands of pounds for charity.

She gradually experimented with different painting mediums and eventually found her fascination with alcohol inks. Captivated by the vibrancy and unpredictability of the inks, this has now become the main medium of her choice. Ever enthused to improve, Minu embarked on an online Mastery programme in Fine Arts with the Milan Art School to further her artistic endeavours. She currently works simultaneously in healthcare and the arts, and believes the balance of the two inspires her to achieve higher goals in both fields.

Minu has established an artistic profile in her home city of Leeds where she has been interviewed by local radio, newspaper and magazines and was featured in the Leeds City’s “Pride in Place” calendar. She mainly exhibits in Yorkshire and London, but has also exhibited twice at the prestigious Nehru Centre in Mumbai, India. Her work is held in numerous private collections around the world including India, Canada, USA, Australia and Germany.
