Marit Geraldine Bostad

Artist Marit Geraldine Bostad

Marit works and lives in Horten Vestfold County, Norway where her studio is situated in a disused naval base, surrounded by the natural world and historic buildings that provide tranquility for her work.

Marit was an Art Director for 10 years working on visual projects in film, illustration and concept building in Oslo. Alongside her a commercial work, she painted as a way to release and unwind. In 2010 she left her career in Art Direction to pursue painting full time. Since then, she has exhibited her work in Oslo, London, LA and New York, and has received substantial acclaim from curators as well as galleries throughout Europe and the US, for her vibrant, strong and emotionally-charged contemporary abstract paintings. In 2017 Rebecca Wilson of Saatchi Art picked Marit as one of the "4 Must-See Artists". She made her debut in the New York art scene with a group show at Madelyn Jordon Fine Art and a solo show at Spotte Art in 2017 and the next year participated in "En Verano" in Los Angeles in Saatchi Art's physical summer show. Marit also spent five weeks in New York at ESKFF/MANA Contemporary as artist in resident at their Summer 2018 Program. She has since had numerous solo and group shows including KHÅK Kunsthall Ålesund and Gulden Kunstverk in Norway.

In the latest series of work, Conversations in the Room, Words and New Voices, she examines how conversations have changed and evolved during and after the pandemic. One of her artworks in this series, Words 3, was selected as the cover image of the Affordable Art Fair Hampstead 2022.
