White Opal

The ‘Umbrella’ series of digital Collages was inspired by a chance moment, looking down from a walkway above Shibuya station in Tokyo, as thousands of people were hurrying to escape torrential rain during a thunderstorm. In White Opal, Hermione translates this memory into slightly confused abstracted shapes of umbrellas, as a metaphor for these crowds of people rushing to escape the rain. She combines hand cut stencils with drawings digitally, to create her original prints. It is printed in archival ink onto A1 size Hahnemuhle German Etching Paper 310gsm.
