Hermione Carline

Hermione Carline is a mixed media artist born in Hampstead to a family of artists, the Carlines and Spencers. Exploring themes of light and shadow, translucence and opacity through her paintings, drawings and prints, she imbues her work with an immersive and atmospheric quality creating pieces that are often abstract but firmly rooted in the material world.

Carline studied painting at Camberwell School of Art followed by an MA in textiles at the Royal College of Art. She then worked as a textile designer, co-founding the design studio, The Collection, where her clients included Pierre Cardin, Christian Dior and Ralph Lauren. Returning to fine art more recently, much of her current work has been informed by her earlier experiences in design and interiors."

She has shown regularly in group shows with Gallery Elena Shchukina, The Accessible Art Fair, The Museum of Modern Art, Brussels and is a regular exhibitor with The Other Art Fair.
